I found out that the Comissionary Department was incharge of feeding the troops. I had thought that they would just find nice people who agreed to feed them. I fount it interesting that the Union and the Confederate each only had one comissionary department. I would've thaout that the Union had more.
I learned what hard tack tasted like and how to make it (HORRIBLE!!).i also learned what the soldiers went through during the war, and all the different battles like the battle of ft. sumpter. by the sharp pencil
I learned that hardtack was used as food for the soldiers on both sides and that it was plain bread.I also learned that it was very hard.
